Climate package contributing to the production of reusable cellulose fiber insulation. EcoUp manufactures cellulose fiber insulation almost exclusively from recycled paper and cardboard collected from Finnish households and industry. By replacing conventional insulation materials, which have a significantly higher carbon footprint, the project generates verified credits for avoided carbon emissions. The method calculates avoided emissions by comparing the market average of emissions from competing insulation materials with the actual emissions generated during the production and delivery of EcoUp insulation. The difference represents real, measurable CO2e that would otherwise have been released into the atmosphere. Production takes place at facilities in Kiiminki, Kuusankoski, and Vanda in Finland. The project is expected to avoid between 12,000 and 28,000 tCO2 annually during 2025–2027. In addition to the climate benefits, the project drives circular economy principles: at the end of its life cycle, the insulation can be reused, used for energy recovery, or as a soil conditioner, closing the loop for recycled paper.
